Director / Designer / Developer at Combine Studio

Hello, my name is Craig Richardson, I work as a Graphic Designer / Developer at my own design agency Combine Studio. I studied Graphic Design & Visual Communication at Doncaster College Church View Campus from 2001 – 2006 working through the National Diploma, Higher National Diploma & BA Hons Degree courses.

Since graduating in 2006 I went onto work as a Graphic Designer at Leeds City College where I joined part of an excellent team responsible for the Design & Production of all the College’s Literature, Marketing, Advertising & Website Development. This learning experience was incredibly important to me as we were intrinsic in the development of the Brand and the value we had developed upon it.

From there I have spent time working within the local industry spending time at two independent Graphic Design Studios where I was responsible for designing & managing a number of clients in a variety of sectors locally and nationally.

At present I run my own design agency Combine Studio, its an intentionally small, perfectly formed studio driven by ideas and engaging brand experiences both on and offline. The aim is to work alongside clients producing exciting and creative work that creates real tangible results. The aim is to grow it slowly and strategically creating a collective of like minded designers that are able to expand our multi disciplined skill set. The excitement of being able to directly work with clients and guide them through their design problems to create solutions that deliver results has been the most rewarding aspect of setting up so far.

I recently finished a large project for the Enterprising Education Framework. The project incorporated a complete redesign and rebuild of the existing website allowing existing and new users to reengage and interact with each other online, providing immediate access to all the latest information for the framework.

I regularly get invited back to the college to give talks and workshops to the graduating students. I think Its invaluable to give back what I’ve learnt and hopefully helps the students gain an insight into the industry and whenever possible I like to provide an opportunity for a work placement allowing students to experience that ‘real world’ sensibility, I know that I benefited from doing a couple of placements hugely and hold those experiences fully accountable for me been offered my first job in the industry.

There is lots of exciting directions & projects on the horizon with Combine Studio & hope to continue to do what I’m doing, grow slowly and continually improve its offering.
