Apprenticeship in Business Administration
This Apprenticeship in Business Administration will be suitable
for learners who want an administrative role, which involves
working as part of a team and providing support to colleagues,
customers and clients.
You will be employed, working in a business/office environment
and could study up to half a day per week in College. The
qualification is expected to take approximately 12 months to be
achieved.
WHAT TRAINING WILL YOU DO?
Subjects studied may include use of spreadsheet software,
managing customer relations, operating office equipment, organise
and support meetings, deal with visitors, use a telephone system,
research and report information and working in a business
environment.
WHAT QUALIFICATIOS WILL YOU WORK TOWARDS?
There are two levels of Apprenticeships, Apprenticeship at Level
2 and Advanced Apprenticeship.
The Apprenticeship leads to NVQ Level 2 (equal to 4 GCSEs grades
A-C) and should be completed in 1 year.
The Advanced Apprenticeship leads to NVQ Level 3 (equal to two A
Levels) and should be completed in 1 year.
A technical certificate and Key Skills will also need to be
achieved.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE
AFTERWARDS?
Many Apprentices progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship, or may
go on to higher level qualifications.
WHO PROVIDES THE TRAINING FOR MY APPRENTICESHIP IN
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION?
For the Apprenticeship at level 2, the training is fully funded
for learners aged 16-24 and is paid for by the Doncaster College
funded through the Learning and Skills Council. For the
Advanced Apprenticeship, the training is fully funded for learners
aged 16-18, and for learners 19-24 there will be a fee of a
£100.00.
WHAY AN APPPRENTICESHIP?
An Apprenticeship is a national qualification, aimed primarily
at young people aged 16-24. The Apprenticeship and Advanced
Apprenticeship leads to a respected qualification in a real work
environment, earning money at the same time. Once fully
qualified, you can use your skills to work as a PA, Secretary,
Administration Assistant, Clerical Assistant, Office Administrator
or Administration Clerk.
WHAT QUALIFICAITONS DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR AN
APPRENTICESHIP?
Although no qualifications are required, you will need to
complete diagnostic tests to clarify what support you will
require. Employers may have their own entry requirements and
some prefer learners to have GCSE grades C/D in Maths and
English.
WHAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MY
EMPLOYER?
Encourage the apprentice throughout progress of the NVQ and Key
Skills, provide opportunities for developing practical skills, give
time to progress with training and hold regular reviews.
WHAT IS MY RESPONSIBILIT?
Attend and fully participate in all training sessions, develop
Key Skills, seek opportunities to gain experience and practical
skills, develop a portfolio to demonstrate proof of competence and
participate in regular reviews.
WHAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MY COLLEGE?
Explain the NVQ structure to the employer and the apprentice,
assist the apprentice in developing their portfolio, hold regular
reviews and provide expert advice on NVQ, Key Skills and
assessments.
