Apprenticeship at Level 2 in Manufacturing (Industrial Applications)

Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

You will do work-based training with an employer and will be paid a wage. The apprenticeship will involve you working towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and Key Skills, as described below:

 

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

There are no specific entry requirements for this  Apprenticeship.  However, you should be able to demonstrate the potential to achieve NVQ Level 2 and Key Skills.

 

WHAT JOB WILL YOU DO?

Your job role is likely to include:

  • Transferring materials
  • Producing shaped products
  • Producing products by assembly operations
  • Producing joined products
  • Producing formed products
  • Finishing products
  • Producing moulded products
  • Producing packaged products
  • Making products using computer controlled equipment
  • Manufacturing products using combined manufacturing operations
  • Carrying out inspection and testing activities

 

HOW LONG DOES YOUR APPRENTICESHIP TAKE TO COMPLETE?

Your apprenticeship ends when all necessary components have been completed. This might be expected to take between 1 and a half and 2 years. The pace of your progress will depend on you.

 

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE AFTERWARDS?

After completing the Apprenticeship at Level 2 applicants could progress to supervisory level.

 

Qualifications required as part of the Apprenticeship Framework

 

NATIONAL VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (NVQ)

You will need to achieve the following NVQ at Level 2

  • Performing Manufacturing Operations

 

KEY SKILLS

You will work to achieve the following Key Skills:

  • Application of Number Level 1
  • Communication Level 1

You will discuss your individual needs with your employer and college representative
