IMI Awards Fast Fit Technician Level 2

You are expected to be available to attend
college Monday to Thursday between 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to
4.30pm.
Course Description
This is a level 2 qualification that includes
the full range of routine vehicle fitting procedures. It provides
essential knowledge for vehicle fitters working on a wide range of
vehicles in all types of garages, dealerships and fast fit
businesses.
It is a learning programme which involves
students studying both the theory and practical aspects of light
vehicles in some of the following:
- Inspecting, repairing and replacing: high
performance light vehicle tyres.
- Carrying out light vehicle front wheel
alignment
- Inspecting and replacing light vehicle:
clutches, exhaust components, suspension dampers, vehicle batteries
and braking systems
- Assessing and securing a roadside
situation
- Identifying and agreeing customer vehicle
needs
Students also gain a broad knowledge and
understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other
skills associated with working in a garage.
Course Structure
Candidates must achieve all 3 mandatory units
and 4 optional units to achieve the Level 2 Certificate.

Needs
Course Assessment
The student’s knowledge is assessed by set
practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment,
‘on-line’ multiple-choice testing and theory assessments set by the
college.
The course requires you to develop your key
skills (communication, Application of Number or ICT) one of which
will be examined during the course.
Course Entry Requirements
- Level 1 motor vehicle qualification.
- All applicants must complete an initial
assessment in Maths and English and attend an individual
interview
- Favourable comments in Progress File or
College Report.
- Show a good level of mechanical aptitude
Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19
years old on 31 August 2010. .
A £50 charge for course materials is applied
to all full time engineering courses
Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be
arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your
learning. These activities are optional and additional fees
will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time
of interview.

On to a level 3 Fast Fit programme, or to a
Vehicle Technician course
