Legal Secretaries Level 2 Certificate
Course Description
The course includes a wide variety of skills in both general and
legal administration. It offers a broad range of subjects and
ensures that students are both prepared and qualified for a career
in the administration or secretarial environment.
Course Structure
The main course consists of 3 units:
- Legal Word Processing and Digital Audio
- Working in the Legal Environment (Administration)
- Proof-reading in the Legal Environment
You will also take functional skills as appropriate
You will undertake OCR Level 1 Certificate in Text
Processing
Modules covered:
- Text Production
- Word Processing
- Legal Text Processing
- Digital Audio
Course Assessment
Each of the 3 main units are assessed by means of externally set
and internally marked time constrained assignments plus an
externally set and marked proof reading test. Grades can be
awarded Pass, Merit and Distinction.
The Certificate in Text processing qualification is assessed by
external examinations
Entry Requirements
- 4 GCSEs grade D and above including English at Grade C or
above
- Business, Administration, Retail and Customer Services Level
1
- Adult Literacy Level 1
- Business Administration Level 1

All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and
English and attend an interview
Course Progression Routes
Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance or
Advanced Apprenticeship in Business Administration

Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, including
Magistrates' and Crown Courts, which are beneficial to this course
and your learning. These activities are optional and additional
fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time
of interview.
Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However,
you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips
and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your
interview.
