Course Description

This course is designed for learners who have an interest in Travel & Tourism but have little or no experience. The aim is to provide you with an understanding of the basic principles of the Travel & Tourism industry and allows them to explore the variety of amazing career opportunities.


Learners will also have the opportunity to achieve qualifications in Functional Skills subjects English, Maths and ICT and study Personal and Social Development to support their new skills.

Course Structure

What you will be doing:


During the course you will explore the UK Travel & Tourism Industries, looking at the organisations invloved, who they are and what they do. You will also learn Customer Service skills to use in your new career and along with Worldwide Geography knowledge.


You will learn how to plan itineraries and take part in visits, find out how to help your future customers make the most of their travel plans and look at what they need before, during and after their trips. Explore how holidays are put togther as well as how they are sold and delve into the life of an overseas holiday representative.


You will discover a whole range of career opportunities within the Travel and Tourism Industry you never knew exsisted!

Course Assessment

Assessment will take place throughout the year with a range of written assignments, practical activities and online tests. You will be given deadlines and continuous feedback from your tutor.

Entry Requirements

All applicants will have a one-to-one interview with a course tutor and must demonstrate a genuine interest in Travel & Tourism and ability to progress on the course. There is also an initial assessment in Maths and English that must be taken before a place on the course will offered.

Course Progression Routes

Students may progress onto level 2 courses in dedicated Aviation, Cabin Crew or Travel and Tourism pathways.

Course Career Prospects

You will improve your chances of gaining employment in the travel and tourism industry with travel agencies, tour operators, at visitor attractions and overseas work such as resort representatives whilst improving your communication and vocational skills.

Trips and visits will be arranged which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities may incur additional fees that will always be kept to minimum.

Course Costs

There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.


All students will be required to wear an industry standard uniform which must be ordered via the college and purchase a travel atlas at a cost of approximately £20
