City & Guilds 2800 level 2/3

 

Course Structure

There are three core units

  • Unit 001- Working effectively and safety in an engineering environment
  • Unit 002- Engineering principles and practice.
  • Unit 003- Principles of welding

 

There are three optional units

  • Unit 015 Manual metal arc welding
  • Unit 016 Metal inert/active gas mig/mag welding
  • Unit 017 Tig welding
  • Unit 019 Thick Platework
  • Unit 020 Sheetmetal work
  • Unit 024 Pattern development  

 

Course Assessment

Core units are test online using city and guilds GOLA test

Optional units are all practical assignment and written test.

 

Course Entry Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs grades A*-C including
  • Performing Engineering Operations (Welding) at Level 2
  • For equivalent qualifications see the ‘Guide to General Entry Requirements’ on page
  • All applicants must attend an individual interview
  • Entry requirements may be amended for mature students who have considerable relevant experience

 

Course Costs

There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010.  However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery.  You will be informed of these at your interview.

 

A £50 charge for course materials is applied to all full time engineering courses.

 

Course Enrichment

Activities such as trips and visits may be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning.  These activities are optional and additional fees may be charged to you.  Details will be provided at the time of interview.
