One Year full time

 

Attendance

You are expected to be available to attend college Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 4.30pm.

 

Course Description

All motor vehicle courses are now developed from a suite of modules which allows the College and student to select the most appropriate path in relation to the student's intended career.

 

At Doncaster College, we offer the Maintenance Light Vehicle route, City and Guilds 4101 series.  This is divided into 4 levels and Certificate and Diploma, allowing the course to be completed either as a full-time or part-time course.

 

Course Structure

The course consists of 4 modules; Housekeeping, Reducing Risks at Work, Basic Routine Maintenance and Workshop Processes.

 

Course Assessment

Assessment will be by a practical portfolio and regular online assessment.

The course requires you to develop your key skills (communication, Application of Number or ICT) one of which will be examined during the course.

 

Course Entry Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs grades D
  • City and Guilds 3901 Award in Automotive Vehicle Maintenance Entry 3
  • For equivalent qualifications see the Guide to General Entry Requirements page
  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an individual interview

 

Course Costs

There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010.  However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery.  You will be informed of these at your interview.

 

A £50 charge for course materials is applied to all full time engineering courses

 

Course Enrichment

Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning.  These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you.  Details will be provided at the time of interview.

 

Course Progression

Candidates who are successful at Level 1 will be able to progress to the IMI Level 2 Fast Fit course.

To work for franchised dealerships, independent garages, fast fit centres and national fast fit chains
