Engineering Expo
Manufacturing and Engineering are still a significant
part of the Doncaster economy and provide valuable employment and
good career prospects for skilled staff.
It is a sector where innovation and technology
needs to be drivers for maintaining productivity and a competitive
edge, particularly in the current trading difficulties.
Doncaster is demonstrating this ability to adjust and change,
grasping the opportunities provided by the developments such as the
Airport.
Doncaster College is working closely with
employers to unlock all of Doncaster’s talent and ensure a skilled
workforce, now and in the future.
However, the sector needs to attract talented
and motivated people to embrace the opportunities presented.
Engineering Expo, supported by Success Doncaster, is a series of
events which demonstrate the opportunities Manufacturing and
Engineering have to offer. These inform and educate, showing
that it is no longer all about oil, grease and boiler suits,
demonstrating that Manufacturing and Engineering is a high tech,
exciting and stimulating environment in which to build a
career.
Engineering Expo has a particular focus on
women. While women have traditionally not seen Manufacturing
and Engineering as a potential career, the sector needs their
contribution and talents and cannot afford to miss out on what half
the workforce has to offer.
