Floristry Level 3 Diploma
Course Description
You will require a passion for Floristry. You will gain advanced
floristry skills that will enhance your career prospects within the
Floristry industry. The course is taught by practical
demonstrations, tasks and assignments.
You will be expected to attend college for 2.5 days per
week.
Course Structure
Mandatory units
- Unit 1 Diverse flower and plant care
- Unit 2 Creative design processes for florists
- Unit 3 Diverse tied floral designs
- Unit 4 Diverse floral designs for weddings
- Unit 5 Floral arrangements
- Unit 6 Sympathy tributes
- Unit 7 Working in the industry
- Unit 8 Costing designs
- Unit 9 Function and event decorating using floral displays
All mandatory units must be achieved and a written theory paper
to gain the full qualification. Additional to your course will be a
tutorial programme of study plus an employability
qualification.
Course Assessment
The course will be assessed by integrated assignments practical
and theory. You will also undertake a written examination.
Entry Requirements
- You must have gained a Level 2 qualification in Floristry
- All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and
English and attend an interview
- Relevant industry experience.
- You will be required to undertake a minimum of 80 hours work
experience within the floristry industry.
Course Progression Routes
You may progress onto the NPTC and Society of Floristry, Higher
Diploma in Floristry (ICSF). Level 4
Course Career Prospects
Senior Florist working in a Florist shop, garden centre or large
retail outlet.

Enrichment
Activities, such as trips to Alden Beisen Castle, Belgium and
participation in the Harrogate competition will be arranged, which
are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities
are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details
will be provided at the time of interview.
Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However,
you will have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips
and personal stationery. Some sundries will be provided, but you
must be aware there will be additional flowers to purchase for your
designs. You will be informed of these at your interview.
