Introduction to Hair & Beauty
Course Description
The course provides an entry point into the hair & beauty
sector. It is ideal for anyone who is unsure about which pathway to
take. You will study basic hairdressing & beauty therapy skills
and will look at each of the two different areas in detail.
Course Structure
Units covered include:
- Introduction to the hair and beauty sector
- Presenting a professional image in a salon
- Hair Plaiting
- Face Painting
- Nail Art
- Styling Womens' Hair
You will also study Functional Skills English, Maths & IT
and work towards an additional qualification in Personal and Social
Development
Course Assessment
The course will be assessed through the completion of written
and practical tasks, and you will build a portfolio evidence.
Course Progression Routes
Level 1 Hairdressing or Level 1 Beauty Therapy.
Course Career Prospects
After further study this qualification will give you
opportunities to gain employment in settings such as a hairdressing
salon, health farm, cruise liner and setting up your own
business.

Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However,
you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips
and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your
interview.
