Course Description

You will cover a range of different areas, supervising staff, organising and supervising an event, bar control, including stack taking and ordering and controlling the payment point, planning work of staff, holding meetings.

Course Structure

5 core units and 3 optional units covered, including one functional skill.

Course Assessment

You will complete 8 units through observation, questioning and an on line multiple choice exam for the technical certification. You are expected to self study and research themed events.

Entry Requirements

  • Level 2 in Food and Drink service or
  • Relevant industry experience
  • For equivalent qualifications see the Entry Requirements Explained page
  • All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English and attend an interview
  • Must be in related employment or a placement will be found alongside the course.

Course Progression Routes

Progression on completion of the course may include a higher level course such as an HND or Degree

Course Career Prospects

Career prospects are excellent within this expanding industry, which is continually on the lookout for skilled employees, locally, nationally and internationally. This qualification will provide opportunities to gain work in a supervisory role such as assistant manager within a wide range of areas in the Hospitality Industry. These could include working in hotels, Army, National Health Service, contract catering and event catering.

Course Costs

There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.
