Course Description

The C & G Level 2 Diploma for IT Users course will allow students to prepare for further learning or training and develop skills and knowledge in the ICT user area.

 

ITQ Qualifications offer freedom, choice and flexibility. Allowing for different routes to achievement, students can build up credits and combine them in a way that will help them get to where they want to be. Achievements will be kept on an electronic learner record, encouraging learners and others to value past achievements.

Course Structure

The course is made up of units to the value of 38 Credits:

 

Each unit is worth either 3 or 4 Credits. The student must pass the Core Unit worth 3 Credits along with the selected optional units up to the total of 38 Credits for progression onto Level 3.

 

Core Unit:

  • Improving Productivity using IT

 

Optional Unit Sample:

  • Audio Software
  • User Fundamentals
  • Setting up an IT System
  • Specialist Software
  • Database Software
  • Drawing & Planning Software
  • Imaging Software
  • Spreadsheets Software
  • Word Processing Software

 

Students will also be required to attend functional Skills, Tutorials and PPD sessions.

Course Assessment

Assessment could be a combination of Online Tests, Paper Based Tests, Witness Testimonies, Professional Discussion or Portfolio building although emphasis is on “doing” rather than “writing”, however, some written work will be necessary.

Entry Requirements

  • 4 GCSEs Grade D (preferably with English and Maths), or
  • City & Guilds Level 1 Diploma for IT Users or equivalent with Credit

Entry onto the City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma for IT Users course will be by completion of an application form, followed by Initial and Diagnostic assessments achieving at least a Level 1, attendance on a 3 day taster, interview and successful completion of the induction programme. all designed to determine that the ICT area is for you and to test your commitment to the course.

Course Career Prospects

Learners will be able to feel confident in their use of ICT in a variety of roles whether in

administration to catering, design to management, NHS to warehousing.

Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.

Course Costs

There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

 

Material costs of £20.00 - to cover the cost of a Memory stick, paper, printing and any trips we may attend.
