Course Description
This package of qualifications has been designed to offer
learners choice and freedom to start and finish at different stages
throughout the academic year.
The course comprises of five vocational related qualifications
to develop a range of employability skills and techniques that are
essential for successful employment in the sport, leisure and
fitness industry.
Learners will be able to develop knowledge of the specific roles
and responsibilities within the Fitness Industry and the Sport and
Active Leisure sector and apply theoretical underpinning through
practice application and portfolio assessment.
Course Structure
NCFE L2 Award in the Principles of Coaching
Sport
The course introduces the knowledge and practical skills
required when assisting coaching activities in sport. It consists
of 4 units:
- Understanding the fundamentals of coaching sport
- Understanding how to develop participants through coaching
sport
- Supporting participants lifestyle through coaching sport
- Understanding the principles of safe and ethical coaching
practice
NCFE L2 in Nutrition and Health
The course introduces the knowledge and practical skills for
having a greater understanding of nutrition and dietary choices
essential to maintain health and wellbeing. It consists of 3
units:
- Explore principles of healthy eating
- Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
- Use food and nutritional information to plan a healthy
diet
NCFE L2 Certificate in Leisure Operations
The course introduces the knowledge and practical skills
required to gain employment in the Sport, Recreation and Leisure
industry. It consists of 9 units:
- Understanding employment rights and responsibilities
- Understanding the Active Leisure and Learning Sector
- Customer Care and Diversity
- Health, safety, Security and Welfare in Active Leisure
- Developing self in an Active Leisure job role
- Cleaning in Active Leisure
- Handling and Maintaining Equipment
- Team Work in Active Leisure
- Emergency First Aid Skills
CYQ L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing
The course provides essential knowledge and practical skills to
deliver safe and effective gym based exercise activities and one of
the most recognised qualifications to gain employment in the
fitness industry. It consists of 6 units:
- Anatomy Physiology Theory Exam
- Health and Safety (internal assessment)
- Principles of Exercise Health and Fitness Theory Exam
- Support Clients (internal assessment)
- Planning Gym Based Exercise Activities
- Instructing Gym Based Exercise Activities (observation)
NCFE L2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator
Events
The course is suitable for anyone that is considering a career
in stewarding at spectator safety events or wishing to volunteer
within the industry. It consists of 4 units:
- How stewards prepare for spectator events
- How stewards control the entry, exit and movements of
spectators
- How stewards monitor and respond to potential crowd
problems
- How to respond to injuries, illness and other emergencies
Course Assessment
NCFE L2 Award in the Principles of Coaching
Sport
8 weeks – A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a
combination of practical and theoretical activities.
NCFE L2 in Nutrition and Health
36 weeks – A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a
combination of practical and theoretical activities throughout the
academic year.
NCFE L2 Certificate in Leisure Operations
10 weeks –A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a
combination of practical and theoretical activities.
CYQ L2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing
12 weeks – A combination of practical and theoretical workshops
will prepare candidates for a practical assessment and 2 x multiple
choice theory exams.
NCFE L2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator
Events
5 weeks –A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a
combination of practical and theoretical activities.
Entry Requirements
- 3 x GCSE grade D or above, or
- Equivalent Level 1 Sport qualification

Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old. However,
you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips
