City & Guilds Level 2 Computerised Accounts

Course Description

The course is aimed at learners seeking certification of a broad experience in using computerised accounts software and to widen their competence. It is also aimed at those who want to enter employment in a computerised accounts environment.

Course Structure

Part time 3 hours per evening, one evening per week for 10 weeks.

 

In addition to the skills required for Level 1, candidates will learn how to complete the following:

  • Process customer/supplier payments/receipts involving discounts where applicable
  • Process transfers between bank and cash accounts
  • Process nominal journals in relation to wages at month end
  • Process an individual invoice, and update the ledgers
  • Enter tax reference codes and/or percentages i.e. value added tax or sales tax
  • Produce numerous reports as instructed

 

Assessment is by a two hour examination which will take the form of a case study.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements but we recommend the following:

  • Have hopefully completed level 1, or are currently working in accounts
  • Familiarity with a computer keyboard
  • Basic numeracy skills

Course Progression Routes

IAB Level 1 or 2 in Bookkeeping or AAT Foundation NVQ Level 2.

Course Career Prospects

Accounts/Finance clerk or after further progression there may be job opportunities to become an accounting technician.
