Course Description

This course is for candidates to further develop skills in payroll record keeping. It is designed for the following candidates:

  • Those who have achieved IAB Level 1 award in payroll
  • Those who are new to working in payroll but have some previous general knowledge in payroll
  • Those who have previously worked in payroll but have not received a qualification
  • Those who are employed in payroll and aspire to become professional payroll administrators

Course Structure

  • Fundamentals of employment legislation for payroll
  • Composition of an employee payroll record and creating an employee record
  • Elements of Gross Pay and Calculate Gross Pay
  • Statutory payments and additions including SSP, SMP, SAP and SPP
  • Termination of employment and processing leavers
  • Work effectively in accounting and finance
  • Computerised payroll theory and skills

Entry Requirements

A good level of English, Mathematics and Information Technology and an interest in Payroll.

Course Progression Routes

  • IAB Level 3 Certificate in Payroll

  • IAB Level 3 Award in computerised payroll

Course Career Prospects

Accounts/Finance clerk or after further progression there may be job opportunities to become an accounting technician.
