Diploma in Health and Social Care Qualification and Credit Award Framework (DHSC-QCF) Level 2

Course Description

This is a vocational qualification which is achieved by evidencing vocational competence. The Diploma in Health & Social Care Qualification and Credit Award Frame work (DHSC-QCF) has now replaced the HSC-NVQ; however, the delivery and achievement still remain the same.

 

The new award has three pathways which can be tailored to your specific area of competence/work environment, which include; a General Pathway, Dementia Pathway and the Learning Disability Pathway.

 

At level 2 you must obtain 46 or more credits to achieve the Diploma. These credits are achieved by completing 9 mandatory units and a selection of units from the optional list.

 

This course is for people who are in a caring role within the Health and Social Care sector. You may be employed full or part-time, paid or voluntary. The course benefits both you and the organisation you work for with the advantages of E-portfolio. The Health and Social Care Diploma (QCF) is based on National Occupation Standards that have been introduced to raise the quality of service provided in the sector.

 

The award allows people to become more competent and confident in their work and will increase their value in the employment market. It will also enable candidates to progress to further education and training. We are also providing learners with the opportunity to complete qualification within the award in literacy and numeracy

Course Structure

This course is work based and assessment is based on observations of you in your work role, along with a portfolio of evidence in which you will demonstrate your competence.

 

There is the opportunity for students to work electronically within the programme

Entry Requirements

You do not need any qualifications or have to have undertaken any previous courses or forms of study. However, you will have to show that you have the required underpinning knowledge and understanding of health and social care. Therefore you will need to have had at least six months experience in a health and social care setting and currently be working within a setting 6-10 hours weekly. This is to support vocational competence.

Course Progression Routes

Some credits achieved from this qualification can be used to progress on to the diploma in Health and Social care level 3 and also towards children and young people Diploma

Course Career Prospects

This qualification will provide opportunities in employment within the Health and social care sector.
