City and Guilds Diploma in Systems and Principles for IT Professionals Level 2 – CompTIA A+ Route

Course Description

The aim of this course is to give students the skills and knowledge they will require to undertake a career within IT Support. The main focus of this course is on the configuration and management of PC Hardware covering all aspects of the internal infrastructure of a PC as well as introducing on networking and operating systems.

 

Students can attend any of the sessions listed during the week as the course operates in a workshop environment:

 

Mondays17:00 – 21:00

Tuesdays 09:00 – 13:00

Tuesdays 13:30 – 17.30

 

Course Structure

The course is delivered part time at the College’s Hub site and will require students to attend 4 hours per week. The sessions take the form of workshops where students are working at their own pace through professionally prepared materials as well as having full access to a practical lab environment.

 

Modules Covered

  • Customer Service (Level 2)
  • Cisco IT Essentials (Level 2)

  • Comptia A+ Essentials (220-701) (Level 2)

  • Comptia A+ Practical Applications (220-702) (Level 2)

 

Students who successfully complete this course will be recognised by Comptia as having the skills and knowledge required to become an entry level IT support professional.

Entry Requirements

  • A good working knowledge of computers
  • Skills in using Microsoft Office applications (to at least level 1 standard)
  • Good comprehension of English to at least level 2 standard (this will be assessed via a diagnostic test)

Course Progression Routes

You may progress onto the Level 3 Diploma after the successful completion of this course.

Course Career Prospects

This is an industry lead certification that will prepare you for work as a front line PC support specialist.
