Ascentis Preparation for Employment Groundworks Level 1

Course Description

This programme is aimed at people wanting to work in highway maintenance for private companies or Local Authorities highway departments.

 

This course is open to anyone and successful learners will be able to progress on to the Diploma level 2 in Highway maintenance.

Course Structure

This is an 11 week short course and requires 15 hours attendance per week over 2 days.

 

The 5 units to complete are: Health & Safety, Storing of Materials, General CV and Job Search, Ground Works and Traffic Management.

Entry Requirements

The course is open to anyone regardless of employment status, subject to successful interview

Course Progression Routes

Successful candidates can progress to the full level 2 Diploma in Highway Maintenance with the college, this course is 2 days per week for 18 months

Course Career Prospects

Employment by various companies / Local Authorities for working on the Highways. Further advancement can be gained through taking QCF level 3 Site Supervision or QCF level 6 Site Management.
