BTEC Subsidary Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment Level 3

Course Description

The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma qualification is for students who wish to pursue careers in the technical side of the construction industry.

Course Structure

The course consists of six units:

  • Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Sustainable Construction
  • Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Construction Technology and Design in Construction and Civil Engineering
  • Building Technology in Construction

Entry Requirements

You will normally need to have at least one of the following:

  • A BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in a related subject
  • An Intermediate GNVQ in a technology subject.
  • At least four GCSEs at Grades A-C to include Maths Science and English.
  • NVQ level 2/3 trade qualifications and appropriate work experience

Course Progression Routes

Successful completion of the Subsidiary level 3 Diploma will enable students to progress in the first instance onto year two of Btec Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or for mature students returning to education and using this qualification as a bridge course they can progress to HNC/HND programmes in Construction.

Course Career Prospects

Students not already in employment could apply for technical jobs in the construction industry e.g. Building Management, Building Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Architectural Technician, Buyer/Estimator etc.
