Construction Pathway to Employment
Course Description
This short course has been thoughtfully put together to give
unemployed learners the chance to look at the construction industry
and the job roles within it. It also gives the learner the
opportunity to take the Health and Safety CSCS test which will give
the learner valuable employability skills and assist in their
search for employment within the construction sector. The course
also includes a unit of accreditation from a highways qualification
which will equip the learner with basic highways tasks such as flag
laying.
Course Structure
The course will run for seven weeks over two days, 12.5 hours
per week (87.5 hours in total).
The course has been structured around units of competence from
three separate qualifications:
- The structure of the Construction Industry (BTEC Level 2)
- Performing highways operations (Ascentis Preparation for
Employment)
- Safe working Practices (Cskills Diploma Level 1)
Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required however a willingness to
work and an interest in the construction industry are
essential.
Course Progression Routes
Possible progression onto any of our full time level 1
construction courses.
Course Career Prospects
The course would give the learner a greater understanding of the
construction sector and with the CSCS card would increase their
chances of employment as a general construction site operative.
