Course Structure

The course is designed to meet the learning outcomes of the 7 units set by the Exam board.

Learning is evidenced by meeting criteria based on these 7 units which can be documented in a weekly journal, skill practice feedback from peers and the tutor to produce a complete portfolio.

Each session in college will consist of material covering practical listening skills, a basic introduction to some theory (Carl Rogers and Gerard Egan), and short role play sessions using the skills covered in class.

To pass the course the portfolio work needs to be marked as ‘proficient’.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements although students need to be aware of the written assessment element of the course and be at least 18 years of age.
