Course Description

The 17th Edition training course is primarily aimed at practising electricians with the relevant trade experience, domestic electrical installers and other allied professionals such as building maintenance managers, electrical designers electrical specifies and electrical estimators who to update and enhance their understanding of IEE Wiring Regulations.

Course Structure

The course is for 12 weeks on a Monday evening (3hours per evening) and covers eight specific units. Scope, object and fundamental principles, Definitions, Assessment of general characteristics, Protection for safety, Selection and erection of equipment, Inspection and testing, Special installations or locations and Appendices.

 

The course consists of classroom instruction and culminates in a multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the content and application of BS 7671 - 17th Edition.

The exam is 'open book', meaning during the two hour exam you will be able to refer to the 17th Edition Regulations book

Entry Requirements

Usually candidates hold at least one of the following qualifications, although exceptions do apply:

  • C&G 2381 16th Edition. Certification must be for:BS7671:June 2001
  • C&G 2330 Level 3 in Installation (Buildings & Structures) or Maintenance
  • C&G 2360 Level 3 Part 2. Certification date must be from Jan 2004 onwards
  • C&G 2351 Certificate in Knowledge of Electrical Installation Engineering (completed as part of an Advanced Apprenticeship from January 2004 onwards

Course Progression Routes

Successful students can apply for a range of additional City & Guilds electrical qualifications subject to holding the appropriate pre-course qualifications
