EMTA Award (EAL) NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations (Fabrication and Welding) Level 2
Course Description
This award is aimed at people new to the Engineering Industry,
or who are in industry and wishing to gain a fabrication and
welding qualification. The qualification recognises what a
competent person is able to do at work. The course involves
learning and developing the skills and knowledge needed to work in
an engineering environment. This course has both practical and
theory content, which is covered by training and assessment
tasks.
Course Structure
The course requires the completion of three mandatory and three
optional assessment routes.
Mandatory Units:
- Working safely in an engineering environment
- Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
- Using and communicating technical information
Optional Units:
- Manual Metal Arc Welding
- MIG/MAGS Welding
- Thermal Cutting
Entry Requirements
- GCSEs grades D & above in English and Maths
- Level 1 NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations
- For equivalent qualifications see the Entry Requirements
Explained page
- All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and
English and attend an individual interview
- Entry requirements may be waived for mature students who have
relevant experience.
Course Progression Routes
Technical certificate at level 2 and 3.
Course Career Prospects
This programme is aimed people wanting to enter the industry in
roles such as team leader, engineering technician and craftsman;
however after further study there are wider job opportunities
including senior engineer, technical manager and project
manager.
