Creative Craft (Cake Decorating and Sugar Craft) City and Guilds Level 3

Course Description

This qualification has been designed for students who are interested in developing skills in Cake Decoration and Sugarcraft making as a vocational study.

Course Structure

cake decoration and sugarcraft course is a September start. It is suitable for students 16 years and over. This course is run part time over two years and students must complete two mandatory units and two optional units.

 

There are no written papers, although students will be expected to keep a course folder demonstrating knowledge of the course, as well as a design portfolio.

 

Equipment and materials will be required by the student, although this will be discussed at the first lesson. Every attempt will be made to keep this to a minimum, improvising where possible. Students on this course are expected to wear a white overall or apron.

 

Areas to be covered:

  • Health and Safety
  • Preparation and use of flower paste
  • Advanced design work
  • Advanced sugarpaste to include modelling and carving
  • Advanced flowers to include exotic and fantasy
  • An in-depth portfolio

Entry Requirements

Students will require Level 2 Cake Decorating & Sugar Craft which must include the Awards in Design and Sampling.

Course Progression Routes

Upon completion of this qualification you may progress onto Levels 3 City & Guilds Patisserie.

Course Career Prospects

This course provides both experience and knowledge on which to base future career and study decisions and therefore to enhance employment prospects. The catering progression routes could lead to becoming tutors, demonstrators, employment or being self employed.
