Introduction to Chef Skills

Course Description

This course will give an introduction to the catering industry, and learners will learn basic knife skills, basic preparation and cooking methods and food safety. This is a fun course that can lead to level 2 professional cookery courses and employment.

Course Structure

Whilst working towards this qualifications, you will cover:

  • Fruit and salad preparation
  • Basic dough products
  • Basic meat preparation and cooking
  • Basic poultry preparation and cooking

Entry Requirements

No entry requirements.

Course Progression Routes

This course is a stepping stone into the professional kitchen, and once completed will give progression onto the NVQ level 2 in Professional Cooking.
