Course description
Ableton Live is a complete music production
and performance solution for live and studio applications. This
award winning software is intuitive to use, creative and very
musical.
We have introduced a series of instructor
supervised short courses leading to College Accredited
Certification. The courses (2 days + 1 day) are suitable for
beginners through to advanced users and are structured and
hands-on. The Ableton Live courses at Doncaster University Centre
are held in small groups with each trainee allocated their own
Apple MacBook Pro for the duration. Hand-outs and other training
materials are provided.
Course Structure
Ableton 101 lasts 2 days
Day 1 is an Introduction To Ableton Live. You will cover:
- What is Ableton Live?
- Live Concepts
- Live Environment/Interface
- File Management
- Hardware Configuration
- Browser, Arrangement and Session Views
- Clips, Devices, Instruments.
Day 2 focuses on Creating Live Music. You will cover:
- Live workflows
- Routing
- Recording Session To Arrangement
- Editing
- Warp Modes and Markers,
- Envelopes
- Editing Audio & Midi
- Tempo, Tap, Punch, Count, Mixing & Effects
Ableton 201 lasts 1 day and will focus on Live Performance. You
will cover:
- Mixer Set-Up for DJ Use
- Follow Actions
- External Midi/Key Control
- Midi Mapping
- Live On Stage
- Sync/ReWire
Course Entry requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for
this course, but students are expected to demonstrate their
interest in Music and Music Technology.
Please note that all courses are subject to a minimum
number of students enrolling. Course dates will be scheduled when a
minimum number of students have registered their interest.
