Preparation for Employment in the Uniformed Services

Course Description

This programme is made up of three separate courses of study, outlined below, and is aimed at learners aged 16-18.

 

NCFE L1 Participate in Outdoor Activities

This unit provides knowledge of the different types of adventurous outdoor activities and importance of ensuring personal safety

 

NCFE L1 Team Working Skills

This unit provides an understanding of the importance of effective team work. Learners will investigate how to plan effectively for team work and how to develop their own role within a team.

 

NCFE L1 Investigate Employment Opportunities in the Uniformed Services

This unit enables students to learn about careers in the uniformed services, the standard entry requirements and the main stages of the recruitment process

 

Edexcel L1 Improving Health and Fitness for Entry in the Uniformed Services

This unit will help learners to understand the importance of personal health and lifestyle and the impact that it has on their fitness. It will also give them the opportunity to take part in various public service fitness tests and assess their own fitness levels in relation to the required standards of that service. They will also gain the knowledge to be able to plan and develop their own training programme

Course Structure

NCFE L1 Participate in Outdoor Activities

6 weeks – (2 days per week). A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a combination of practical and theoretical activities

 

NCFE L1 Team Working Skills

6 weeks – (2 days per week). A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a combination of practical and theoretical activities

 

NCFE L1 Investigate Employment Opportunities in the Uniformed Services

5 weeks – (2 days per week). A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a combination of practical and theoretical activities

 

Edexcel L1 Improving Health and Fitness for Entry in the Uniformed Services

5 weeks – (2 days per week). A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a combination of practical and theoretical assessments

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements.

Course Progression Routes

NCFE Level 2 Diploma in the Uniformed Public Services

BTEC L2 – L3 Diploma in Sport and Leisure

BTEC L2 – L3 Diploma in Uniformed Public Services

Course Career Prospects

Opportunities exist to for further study in sport, leisure and public services or employment in areas such as Uniformed Public Services, Security Guarding, Door Supervision, Outdoor Education and Recreation, Sports Coaching, Sport and Exercise Science, Leisure Management.
