Working in Sport and Active Leisure Industry

Course Description

This programme is made up of three separate courses of study, outlined below, and is aimed at learners aged 16-18.

 

NCFE L1 Award in Sport and Leisure

The course introduces the knowledge and practical skills required when working or entering the Sport and Active Leisure Industry. It consists of 4 units:

  • Unit 01 Job Opportunities in Sport and Active Leisure
  • Unit 02 Working in Sport and Active Leisure
  • Unit 03 Planning and participating in an event
  • Unit 04 Assist in delivering an activity session

 

CYQ L1 Award in Fitness and Physical Activity

The course introduces the knowledge and practical skills required when working or entering the Fitness and Exercise Industry. It consists of 4 units:

  • Unit 01 Exercise and fitness knowledge (multiple choice exam)
  • Unit 02 Participate in physical activity in the fitness environment
  • Unit 03 Exploring personal fitness
  • Unit 04 Assist in delivering an exercise session

 

NCFE L1 Award in Exercise Studies

The course introduces the knowledge and practical skills required to improve sport performance and enhance personal development through exercise. It consists of 3 units:

  • Unit 01 Understand the pri9nciples of exercise and fitness
  • Unit 02 Demonstrate an understanding of safety factors relating to exercise
  • Unit 03 Apply the principles of the training programme

Course Structure

NCFE L1 Award in Sport and Leisure

6 weeks – (2 days per week). A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a combination of practical and theoretical activities

 

CYQ L1 Award in Fitness and Physical Activity

5 weeks – (2 days per week). A combination of practical and theoretical workshops will prepare candidates for a practical assessment and a multiple choice theory exam.

 

NCFE L1 Award in Exercise Studies

5 weeks – (2 days per week). A portfolio of evidence will be generated through a combination of practical and theoretical activities

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements

Course Progression Routes

BTEC L2 – L3 Diploma in Sport and Leisure

BTEC L2 – L3 Diploma in Uniformed Public Services

CYQ Level 2 certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym Based, Exercise To Music, Circuit Training, Aqua Aerobics, Instructing Physical Activity to Children)

CYQ Level 3 Personal Trainer

Course Career Prospects

Opportunities exist to progress to further study and careers in roles such as Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, Outdoor Activities, Sports Coaching, Sport and Exercise Science, Leisure Management.
