Entry Requirements

  • Acceptance onto the course is subject to an interview with a member of the Doncaster Business School CIPD team
  • Students will hold a degree in any topic (2.2 or above) OR three years experience in HRM PLUS either the CBAAPS, DBASS qualification or a degree in any topic below 2.2.

Course Description

The course is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to make an improved contribution to their current or future organisation.  As such the course emphasises skills development.  It is demanding of time, energy and commitment.  Tuition is provided by experienced HR Practitioners who are either Chartered Members or Fellows of the CIPD.

 

The course runs over five semesters requiring the student to attend on either of the following:

  • Tuesday afternoon and evening
  • Wednesday afternoon and evening
  • Tuesday and Wednesday evenings only
  • Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons only

 

The major modules of study are:

 

Semester 1 and 2

2.      Managing in a Strategic Business Environment

3.      Managing and Leading People

4.      Managing Information for Competitive Advantage

 

Semester 3 and 4

 

1.      Employee Relations

2.      Employee Reward

3.      Learning and Development

4.      People Resourcing

 

Semester 5

 

1.      People Management and Development

2.      Management Research Report

 

Students are required to attend a weekend residential in year 1 and year 2, which are devoted to the development of skills in the above areas.

 

Career Opportunities

The CIPD are notified of successful students and this programme will fulfill the knowledge requirement for Chartered Member. 

 

Assessment

Assessment is based on a combination of assignments and examination in each of the modules.  There is also a requirement to complete a work-based project, which is assessed by viva voce examination.
