Course Description
Please note - this is the new Level 6 Professional
Diploma in Marketing Qualification from the CIM. The previous
Level 5 qualification has been replaced by this new syllabus and
content. Please read through for more information or
contact greg.chen@don.ac.uk if you
have any questions.
This qualification is for you if you are working in marketing
management roles, usually within the marketing function, but
it could be that you have other management roles where
marketing is only part of what you do.
You are provided with a copy of each of the core textbooks,
refreshments and catering over the intensive weekend
workshops, electronic resource access available 24/7 and tutor
support and feedback on request.
The qualification provides you with a practical insight into the
principles and application of marketing at an
operational/management level. The typical profiles of previous
learners who have taken this qualification include...
Aims and Objectives
The New Syllabus Professional Diploma is for you if you
are looking to build practical skills in operational marketing
management and broaden your strategic perspective in
marketing.
Course Description
The course consists of four subjects and has a pre-defined
assessment methodology set by the CIM:
Unit 1: Marketing Planning Process
- Work based assignment involving the preparation of a marketing
plan
Unit 2: Delivering Customer Value Through
Marketing
- Three hour unseen examination based on a previously given case
study
Unit 3: Managing Marketing
Unit 4: Project Management in Marketing
- Work-based project requiring an in-depth study of a specific
and focused area of business activity
This is a part-time course delivered over intensive
weekend so that you don't have to take much time off work and would
be more likely to fit into your existing busy diary. As
you are enrolled by each unit, the length of completing
the course is flexible and therefore you could study for the
qualification over two years or longer. On top of the
lectures, you are expected to do additional research in
preparation for class seminars - the CIM specify that at least 6
hours per week are spent completing self-guided study. Have a
chat with the course tutor (contact details see below) to explore
various pathways that would give you a good balance between work,
study and other life commitments.
Tutors will recommend relevant marketing journals, websites
and other resources in addition to core texts.
