COURSE DESCRIPTION

The BTEC Higher National Diploma is a course of study suitable for the Technician Engineer who is, or is expected to be, involved in design, specification, purchase, installation and maintenance of building services equipment.
 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

HOW IS THE COURSE ORGANISED?

The course is offered on a full-time basis and extends over two academic years.
 
The topics the HND is offered on successful completion of the Certificate for 1 year, part-time during the day.  The acquisition of the Diploma will then allow access to a BSc (Hons) degree in engineering, also provided on a part-time basis.
 
Alternatively the HND may be obtained by full-time study over 2 years.
 
The course provides study in mechanical, electrical and managerial subjects.  A selection of subjects that may be studied are:

 

ASSESSMENT

This will be by a combination of methods including coursework, projects and examinations.
 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

It is possible to progress on to a course in a similar subject area or the BSc (Hons) degree in Integrated Technology or gain employment in the Building Services sector.
