The course is designed to give grounding in the technician engineering field of Building Services Engineering. The typical student will be either wishing to enter or already hold a post in design, specification purchase, installation, or maintenance of building services equipment.
Assessment will be by a combination of methods including coursework, projects and examinations.
The course provides study in mechanical, electrical and managerial subjects.
The selection of subjects that may be studied are:

Plumbing Technology
Electrical Installation B
Heating A
Design Procedures
Health and Safety
Analytical Methods
Science and Materials
Management Principles
Group Project
All learners will need to complete a part-time Higher Education application form and interview prior to enrolling.
The BTEC Higher National Certificate is a course intended for students wishing to enhance their qualifications after completing a craft certificate or BTEC National Certificate or National Diploma in an appropriate discipline.
Mature students wishing to return to study without any formal qualifications are also welcomed, but with industrial experience or at least one A level with supporting passes at GCSE grades A, B or C.
It is possible to progress onto the HND in Building Services Engineering. You may further your studies by progressing to professional institute examinations (C.I.B.S.E) or enrolling on a conversion course to gain a degree.
