COURSE DESCRIPTION

Illustration and Animation is an exciting, innovative one year honours stage course, structured to enable you to realise a professional identity and portfolio for employment within the creative industries.

 

This unique course primarily aims to provide progression from the Foundation Degree in Animation & Games Art onto level 6 (honours stage) so that you can attain the qualification of BA (Hons). In addition, the course also offers opportunities for students from other Art, Design and Media Foundation Degrees and HND’s, including professionals and practitioners wishing to gain an academic qualification at this level.

 

If you have a burning passion for creative work which embraces both traditional and digital technologies and want to develop your skills towards employment then this course at Doncaster is the place to do it.

 

COURSE CONTENT/STRUCTURE

The course is structured to enable you to pursue a career in concept art, character development, children’s book illustration, technical and information illustration, digital illustration, general illustration and animation to develop and realise creative, practical, intellectual and transferable skills within the following modules:

 

 

All of the above can be aligned to your own specialist area of interest.

 

COURSE ASSESSMENT

Student progress is assessed via formal critiques with written feedback provided. Two formal assessments take place at key stages within the academic year with the final one determining the student’s summative classification. Assessment is carried out using a variety of methods:

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

PROGRESSION ROUTES

Graduating students will be equipped to apply for positions full time or freelance at a junior level initially within a wide range of industries including: games, advertising, film/TV, children’s publishing, design, interactive media.

In addition, students can use the course as a platform for post-graduate study.
