Shiho studied English as a Foreign Language between
September 2009 and June 2010.
"I wanted to study English and learn flower arranging in
England. But I did not know which college was suitable for me. When
I talked to the agent, the staff suggested Doncaster College to me.
That was why I chose Doncaster college. I did not know Doncaster
before. But I was excited to go and study there.
Before going there, I was worried about the life in Doncaster as
well, because I had no friends and no relatives there. However, I
have plenty of international friends now. And the friendly teachers
helped me to get used to live and study there. I was thankful to
study there and make friends with them.
I attended the EFL course at Doncaster College from September to
June. Thanks to that, I can say my English ability improved. When I
went to Doncaster, I could not say what I wanted to very well,
because I had no confidence and courage to speak English. However,
I got used to listening to English and understanding grammar, so
nowadays I can speak English confidently more than before.
Nevertheless, speaking English is still a problem for me. I hope
that one day I will speak fluently. And I need practice more and
more.
Actually, I could not take the flower course which I had wanted
to at the college. However, the international officer found a
flower school near Doncaster, and I went to the school for 3
months. I gained knowledge of flower arrangement in the English
style, and also in that school, every one was English, so I had to
speak English and I listened to Doncaster English all the time. The
English lessons were also good - thanks to them, I was able to find
my new job in Japan, where I have been working at a florist’s. I
work hard everyday there and I am enjoying my job.
Thus, my life in Doncaster was full of new experiences for me. I
had a lot of troubles, but I solved them with everyone’s help. And
I put my experiences in Doncaster to use in my job and my life in
Japan now. So, I am very grateful to all the things in Doncaster. I
like Doncaster. I miss every one and every thing now. I will never
forget these experiences. Someday, I would like to visit Doncaster
again".
