Become a CU Learning Destination
Your school can become a Children’s
University® ‘Learning Destination’ if you provide children aged
7-14 years with the opportunity to extend their learning beyond
school by participating in a diverse range of out of hour’s
club/modules.
Children’s University® can validate what you
already provide and register your school as a ‘Learning
Destination’
Children use the ‘Passport to Learning’ to
collect credits for hours spent participating in out of school
activities.
An increasing amount of evidence supports the
theory that children who volunteer to learn out side the classroom
develop a more positive attitude to learning and achieve greater
academic success.
Children’s University® invites schools and
other organisations to be involved in a creative way to:
- Encourage participation
- Promote lifelong learning through ‘A varied
menu of activities’ (Core offer for Extended Services)
- Develop new skills by engaging children in
fun, creative, quality learning activities linking with Every Child
Matters.
- Improve self-esteem, motivation and
confidence.
- Raises standards and recognises
achievement
Recognising Achievement
Learning Destinations award credits to
children with ‘Passports to Learning’ for each validated
club/module they attend. Children receive certificates in school
for attendance of each club/module and when the children have
achieved 30, 65 and 100 hours they will receive a national Bronze,
Silver or Gold certificate (respectively) presented at a Graduation
Ceremony in partnership with Doncaster College.
Doncaster Children's University™ is working
towards Quality in Study Support (QiSS) recognition, and can help
your organisation achieve this too.
