How to create a podcast
In order to put a podcast up which contains podcast episodes and can be subscribed to be
users, follow these steps.
-
Edit the Podcast settings
Go to the Course Control Panel.

-
Click on the 'Manage Podcast' link in the 'Course Tools' area of
the page.

-
Enter a 'Feed Title'. Try to make this descriptive and
indicative of the overall content.
-
Give a description for the podcast, for example what sort of
content is included in the episodes.
-
Optionally enter a category and sub-category for the iTunes
metadata information. It might be useful to enter "Other" for the
category and "Education" for the sub-category.
-
Upload an image to use as the 'Album Art' if desired. Make this
indicative of the content and be sure to adhere to copyright legislation also.
-
Choose whether to allow users to subscribe to the feed. This
will let them use a 'feed' of the podcast in tools such as iTunes
and Google Reader. Allow this by setting the 'Visibility' to
'Everyone'.

-
Click the 'Submit' button.
-
Create the Podcast
Go back to the course page

-
Go to the location where you wish to add the podcast listing,
such as 'Course Documents'
-
Click the 'Edit View' link in the top-right of the page.

-
From the 'Select:' drop-down menu, choose the 'Tool' option,
then press the 'Go' button.

-
Select the 'Podcast' option, then press the 'Next' button.

-
Enter the 'link name'. It is good practice to enter the same as
the Name entered for the podcast in the settings earlier on.
-
Enter a description for the podcast, explaining what it is and
the content contained.
-
Select 'Yes' to track the number of views, so that you can
monitor how often the podcast is used.
-
Click the 'Submit' button.
-
Click the 'OK' button. Go back to the area the podcast was added
to by clicking the 'Display View' link.

-
The podcast will now be viewable.

-
Click on the podcast to view the page for it. You will see this
includes the 'album artwork', and if you have made it visible to
everyone, the feed URL will be displayed to the side of it. Below
the album artwork will also be buttons to subscribe to the feed
using RSS or iTunes. At the bottom, all of the podcast episodes
uploaded to the course will be listed.
