Podcasts

A 'podcast' is a piece of material which can be distributed and broadcast via the Internet.

Podcasts can contain any material but their main use is in holding small chunks of audio or video, usually less than 20-30 minutes in length, and typically only a few minutes.

These small episodes of information can be subscribed to and downloaded automatically using software such as iTunes or Winamp, and then either listened to on a computer or transferred to a device such as MP3 players or mobile phones for playback at any time.

Creating podcasts is quite straightforward and easier than you might think. All the hardware resources you might need are freely available to borrow, and the software required is free to download and use.

You could also involve the learners in creating their own podcasts to use as revision materials later on in their studies.
