Social Networking
A social network is a community of people who are connected,
typically by a shared interest or goal. The most popular social
networks allow people to connect to friends made both in personal
lives and online, and interact with them using a variety of
methods.
They are also typically seen as an informal communication
method, and as such can be useful in recording activity of informal
learning between learners.
It is possible to set up groups in which all your learners can
collaborate and contribute their own ideas in an open forum, and
you may find learners work collectively to solve problems that
otherwise may go unnoticed.
Existing social networks such as MySpace and Facebook can be used, although it
may be more appropriate to set up a dedicated network to separate
the learner's own personal profiles from one which will be used
academically.
