Flickr Guide

Flickr is a source of millions of photos, although many are not free to use. The easiest way to find images which are free is to use the dedicated Creative Commons section of the website.

Go to the Creative Commons page, and then follow these instructions:

  1. Enter your search term into the text box.
  2. Click the "Search" button.
  3. The results will be displayed. Find a picture you wish to use then click on it.
  4. You can copy the picture from this page or click the "All Sizes" option above it to see any bigger available versions.
  5. Make sure to note down the user who uploaded it and copy the address of the page also. You will need to reference them whenever you use their images in your material. See your Subject Librarian if you require further assistance with referencing.
