Your Students Union
When you enrol at the College, you’ll
automatically become a member of the Students’ Union and be able to
enjoy all the perks that come with it. Not only is the Union there
to represent your rights and interests, it also gives you plenty of
benefits.
Most importantly, you can apply for an NUS
Extra Card. The NUS Extra Card is the definitive student
discount card with a range of exclusive discounts, offers and
competitions designed to make student life more exciting, more
memorable and more rewarding.
So why should you buy an NUS Extra card I
hear you cry? Read on to find out why the little card is a
must-have for Student life.
Radical discounts
It proves you're a student, but the biggest reason is our range
of great discounts to save you money, here are just a few:
- Amazon.co.uk
- Superdrug
- Ticketmaster
- Play.com
- Warehouse
- JJB Sports
- Miss Selfridge
- MP3 downloads
- Topshop
- Topman
The basic cards costs just £11, however,
Doncaster College Student Union has recently become PASS accredited (Proof of Age Standards Scheme)
which is a UK's national guarantee scheme for proof-of-age
card. From September 2010 this
will cost an extra £6 on top of the basic NUS Extra Card.
You can get help from the Union as well. We
have a drop in service where you can get advice on things like
funding, spending, keeping healthy, childcare, travel and loads
more. We’ll help you out if you find yourself on the wrong end of a
disciplinary, plus help with any course problems.
Students can also take part in the Enrichment
programme on Wednesday afternoons to enhance your time at college
(all work and no play….). The Student Union has organised a
year long programme offering a range of interesting and enjoyable
activities such as Stone Carving, Fashion, Dance, Ice-skating,
Kayaking plus loads more. These activities are free to all
full time students, all you have to do is look through the
Enrichment brochure, choose an activity and sign up with the
Student Union Team.
You could be a Student Rep, this enables you
and your peers to get your voice heard and make a difference in
College? The Student Council meets every two months to discuss
issues and get problems resolved which all looks great on your
CV.
There are two Student Governors who sit on the
College Board and make sure the student voice is heard. This means
you get much more than at most schools and, with all the new mates
you’ll make, your social life will be very hectic.
