Hub Diner

Doncaster College has welcomed a new eatery experience to its Hub campus with the opening of the Hub Diner.

The Diner, located in the College’s Hub campus, and opened just before Easter will provide nutritional snacks for the thousands of students and staff attending Doncaster College. It will be open daily from 11am to 2pm and serve healthy and affordable food, ranging from £1.00 to £2.99.

The Diner is run by the Vol.Success Volunteers and life-skills students from Doncaster College. The students participating in running the diner will also be working towards a range of qualifications such as peer mentoring, personal and social development and food hygiene/ health and safety.

With unemployment in young people being at an all time high, the diner project will give young people attending the College the chance to be involved and learn skills which will increase their chances of gaining employment in the future.

Volunteer Co-ordinator, Jo Holt, said, "The volunteers will be supporting the Life Skills students to develop their customer services skills while working on the Hub Diner.

"The project is very much a young person led project and all the volunteers have been involved from the on-set and will be responsible for the daily running of the project."
