Doncaster College (left).
David Stoakes of Intake, Doncaster, has won an Amazon
Kindle in a prize draw after attending Doncaster College’s 'Have A
Go' Dpen Day.
The draw was made by Nikki Anderson, a Childcare level 3
student, who drew the winning entry under the watchful eye of a
group of students and the Principal and Chief Executive of the
College, George Trow.
Over two hundred others had entered into the running for the £89
e-reader whilst attending the event.
David Stoakes was the lucky winner of the prize draw.
David, 31 and unemployed, said he was happy to win a Kindle but
even happier to sign up to do a plastering course as he, "needed to
get a trade behind him," and make a living.
The event was designed to give attendees, such as David, a
chance to find out more about the range of full and part time
courses that are available at the College, including
Apprenticeships, Vocational Courses, Foundation Degrees, Higher
Degrees and Professional Qualifications.
College staff were also on hand to help with CV writing, finding
local job opportunities and career advice.
The open day gave people of all ages the opportunity to try
their hand at a range of fun activities, taster sessions and skill
challenges across a host of subject areas, from make up and cake
making to sport and 3D modeling using Sculptris.
The College is set to hold another ‘Have a Go’ event on
Wednesday, January 11th between 3.30pm and 7.00pm for all those who
are interested in what the College has to offer.
