James Vernon has become the first recipient of the
Professional Recognition Award, awarded by Doncaster College to its
staff.
The Awards were launched in late 2011, to recognise the
professional contribution that staff make towards the work of the
College. The award will be given 3 times a year so a member of
staff will be honoured once a term.
James Vernon, 23, a field support engineer from Corporate IT
Services has won the award for the autumn term.
Staff are nominated by at least 5 colleagues from different
areas of the College. The College’s Executive team then views the
nominations and decides on a winner.
Nominees said James was, "patient, empathetic and always
pleasant and professional when helping people, regardless of how
busy he is. He always takes time to listen and will go out of his
way to find a solution and provide feedback."
James, from Westwoodside near Doncaster, has worked at the
college for 11 months. He said, "It was an honour to be the first
to receive the Award and I'd say to anyone who wants to win it just
do what you enjoy otherwise you won't put the effort in."
His prizes include the use of a Nuffield Health and Fitness pass
for 2 weeks, a meal for two at the College's Waterfront Restaurant,
a spa package, and a professional profiling session with
Xenonex.
The Staff Development team is currently inviting nominations for
the spring term Award. Nominations should be made
internally to them by 13th March.
