New Student Governor Elected
Kathryn Flanagan won the race to become the new student
respresentative on Doncaster College's Board of Governors.
Congratulations go to Kathryn Flanagan, who has won the
race to be the new student representative on Doncaster College’s
Board of Governors.
Students voted a resounding 141 to 51 in favour of Kathryn and
she took up her role, which will last for two years, at the end of
December.
Kate, as she is known, is eighteen-years-old and is a Level 3
Health and Social Care student. She wants to go on to university
and study a nursing course when she has finished her course at the
college.
She says, "I’m not the quietest person in the world and my
friends say I’m quite opinionated so I was probably the perfect
candidate!"
On why she wanted to be a Governor, she says, "I want to improve
the learning experience of all students at the College."
The Board of Governors is responsible for the overall
functioning of the College. In general terms, it is responsible for
the quality of service that the College offers to learners and the
local community, as well as the College’s financial health and its
strategic direction.
