Books for Good Causes
Students at Doncaster College have been raising money
for charity by selling books they have made in class.
Learners on the Level 2 progression to Advanced Studies
Diploma/Certificate course hope to make in excess of £750 for four
different very good causes: Make a Wish, Alzheimer’s Society,
Doncaster Royal Infirmary Neo Natal Unit, South Yorkshire Air
Ambulance service
Over a hundred students have made books of their choice as part
of their team-working module. They include such titles as ‘How to
make Christmas Decorations’, ‘Cocktails and Canapés’, ‘Nursery
Rhymes’, and ‘Stepping Stones to Uni’.
Heather Thaxter, a lecturer on the course said, "The teams have
worked really well together and over the course of the week they
have sold hundreds of books and have really enjoyed the experience
and raised a lot of money in the process."
