The last few months has seen a professional relationship
flourish between Doncaster College, Job Centre Plus and supermarket
Morrisons, to offer local people the opportunity to secure jobs
with the retail giant.
The Hub campus at Doncaster College in the town centre was used
for extensive rounds of recruitment days for the new ‘M Local’
store located near Jct3 of the M18 and Carr Hill Industrial
Estate.
More than 1500 candidates applied for the vacancies and were
interviewed for a range of roles, with the successful applicants
being enrolled onto a two week bespoke training course at The
College - in order to prepare them for the final selection
processes at the new store.
Kevin Cartlidge, Employability and Skills Manager at Doncaster
College, explains: "The College is extremely proud to be part of
this initiative as it forms part of our commitment to delivering
training to meet local market needs."
Dave Horner from Job Centre Plus added, "We are delighted to be
working in partnership with Morrisons and Doncaster College. Iit
has provided a great support network to help train and prepare
local unemployed people for jobs at the new store."
