Learning Resource Centres Top of the Class
Doncaster College has received a gold award for its
Learning Recource Centres at both its Hub Campus and University
Centre Doncaster Campus at High Melton.
The Council for Learning Resources in Colleges has judged the
Centres outstanding in a recent assessment visit. This is a
significant award to win as judging is by professionally qualified
and experienced colleagues from other Library Services from around
the country.
Whilst the scheme has been running for 15 years the assessment
criteria has recently been changed and Doncaster College agreed to
pilot the new intensive and rigorous accreditation format.
Some of the aspects examined during the visit included
leadership, management of recourses and quality assurance and one
of the main strengths was identified as the outstanding level of
expertise and enthusiasm of the Staff of both Learning Recourse
Centres.
Lorraine Maddock, Manager of the Learning Resource Centres said,
"I am delighted with the outcome of the assessment.
"It was a very rigorous process and teaching staff and students
who took part in the meetings were extremely supportive. The LRC
staff are a very enthusiastic and highly motivated team - I am
proud of the way in which the LRC service works well with all areas
of the curriculum."
