Children's University has an Impact
The Children’s University has won a prestigious national
award from the Directory of Social Change.
The Children’s University won the Everyday Impact – New
Enterprises Award for their outstanding work in raising aspirations
and promoting social mobility through providing high quality
out-of-school-hours activities to children. There were five hundred
entries
Directory of Social Change is an independent charity with a
vision of an independent voluntary sector at the heart of social
change
The Social Change Awards celebrates the passionate individuals
and effective organisations committed to making a positive impact
on society.
The Children's University is a national organization that
provides 7 to 14 year olds with exciting and innovative learning
activities and experiences outside normal school hours.
Linda Metcalfe from the Children’s University at Doncaster
College was part of a team that was instrumental in putting a
successful nomination together.
Linda said, “The Children’s University has an everyday impact
across the community and Doncaster College has a large stake in
that.” Linda added, “There were five hundred entries from across
the country so it was a very good award to win.”
Doncaster College is part of the Children’s University
programme, and has a learning destination at its Waterfront Campus.
The College provides a number of exciting clubs for children
including fashion design, crazy construction and computer club 4
girls.
