College Students Have Close Shave with Jockeys
A team of volunteer hairdressing
students from Doncaster College attended a race meeting at
Doncaster Racecourse last Saturday to help a line up of 15 jockeys
raise money for the 'Racing Welfare - Malton Fire
Appeal'
The volunteers from the college responded to
an appeal by the events organizer and came along with their
clippers ready to shave off the jockey's manes!

The head shave raised £15,000 towards the
appeal launched in response to the tragic fire in Malton which
claimed the lives of apprentice Jockeys Jan Wilson and Jamie
Kyne.
Kelly English, Assistant Director, Academy of
Commercial Enterprise at Doncaster College said “As soon as our
students found out about the fundraiser they were more than happy
to give up their spare time for a very worthy cause and a fun time
was had by all”
Donations to the appeal can be made by sending
cheques made payable to 'Racing Welfare - Malton Fire Appeal' to:
